Making moves at 916 Mahtomedi Academy

There has been a lot of change at one of Northeast Metro 916’s Alternative Learning Centers (ALCs). 916 Mahtomedi Academy has moved onto the Century College campus and has implemented a stretch calendar (longer than the typical school year calendar).

“Our move aimed to bridge the opportunity gaps for our underrepresented and underserved students who often do not see post-secondary opportunities as possible,” said Michelle Baland, Principal. “Being on the Century College campus opens their eyes to the possibilities and the potential to participate in career and college options.”

The move has proven to be a great opportunity for their students, as nine students have already met graduation requirements and will receive a diploma.

An open house is being planned for November when the location will be fully set up and able to host tours.
