Career and Technical Center

Perkins IV

Perkins IV is short for the Carl D. Perkins Career and Technical Education Act of 2006. This is a federal grant that provides funds for approved career and technical education programs. In Minnesota, funds are distributed on the basis of state-approved career and technical programs and appropriate teacher licensure.

Career and Technical Education programs receive funding to promote professional development, student attainment of academic and technical skills, upgrading of equipment, school-and-work-based experiences and career counseling and guidance.

There are several target areas that Perkins IV looks at:
  • High School to College Transition
  • Programs of Study
  • Accountability
  • Collaboration
  • Employer, Community and Education Partnership
  • Service to Special Populations
