About the name

Bellaire Education Center takes its name from the forest and neighborhood that comprise the community the school calls home. Our students are stewards of the surrounding neighborhood, embracing the forest and local businesses as extensions of their classrooms. Nature-based learning, community service, and a focus on self-exploration encourage students to broaden their perspectives, grow as leaders, and take ownership of their learning.

Our approach

We prepare middle students who require intensive special education services to participate as fully and independently as possible in school, at home, and in the community. We focus on a well-rounded school program where students:
