Shelli Sowles receives MnACTE Career Guidance Person of the Year Award
Congratulations to Shelli Sowles, Career and Technical Center (CTC) career and college readiness specialist for being selected as the recipient of the Minnesota Career Guidance Award for 2016. Shelli was nominated by her peers from Minnesota Association for Career and Technical Education (MnACTE).
Shelli has been part of Northeast Metro 916 for 10 years, and in her role, she helps students get ready for a successful transition onto college or directly to work. She is passionate about working with individual students on achieving their next level goals.
According to Ginny Karbowski, MnACTE Awards Chair, Shelli’s qualifications are impressive and she has been a strong leader in career counseling and career technical education as a whole in Minnesota. “We are excited to honor her for this award in 2016!” she says.
As part of the award, Shelli will move forward to compete in ACTE/Region III, which recognizes guidance counselors and career development professionals who have made significant contributions to advocate, educate and communicate the value of career and technical education as a viable career option to a variety of audiences in their communities.
Northeast Metro 916 is one of three intermediate school districts in Minnesota, serving approximately 4,000 students through shared programming that includes career and technical education, special education services, area learning centers and elementary education.
