About our school

Metro Heights Academy is an Area Learning Center (ALC) designed to help students achieve their educational and career goals in a nontraditional learning environment. We offer a comprehensive and rigorous high school curriculum delivered within a personalized, flexible and nurturing environment. Students receive assistance in meeting graduation requirements and have opportunities to gain vocational skills and work experience.

Our approach

We focus on a well-rounded school program where students:

  • Accelerate their learning and have many options for demonstrating their knowledge of a subject

  • Experience rigorous and personalized instruction that challenges them in a compassionate way

  • Have options for on-site, technology-enhanced learning and/or traditional classroom learning

  • Work at a customized pace to reach their goals

  • Earn high school credit regardless of any gaps in school attendance

Additional services and benefits

  • Eligible students may participate in clubs, athletics and extracurricular activities through their home school district

  • Small-group instruction

  • Flexible learning spaces

  • Mental health support

  • Open to students from ninth grade to age 21
